Notepad is a text editor that you can use to create and edit text documents. It is used to write simple text files. There is no format of text. You can create new files, open existing files, and save files. The extension of files is .txt. Since the file size is very small, it is useful to note many things as simple text. It is similar to a notepad that you have for personal use to write short notes on any subject.

How to start Notepad in Windows Operating System?

As we know, notepad is the same for all windows operating systems. Because of which the process of starting notepad is same in almost all windows os. The only difference is in the design or operating user interface of the operating system.

Notepad is a simple text editor, which is quite easy to use. Today we will know what all its menu options / tools are used for.

File Menu

New: You will find this option in the File Menu. You can create (create) a new text file using this option.

Open: This option comes in handy to open files of notepad already created.

Save & Save As: By using these options, you can save and keep the file of notepad in your computer. When you start these saved files using the open option and want to create another file. So at such a time you should use save as option.

Page Setup: Using this tool, you can setup the page size and margin of a notepad file.

Print: This tool allows you to print your typed text on paper through a printer.

Exit: Using this option, you can close notepad, but remember to save the file before closing it.

 

Edit Menu

You can copy, paste, delete the text using Edit menu options / tools. Also you can find any particular text in a file using the find tool.

You can replace a word with another word in the entire file using the replace option in the Edit menu.

You can select all the text written in the file using the Select all option. After that there is time & date tool in the Edit menu. Using which you can enter current time and date in the file.

 

Format Menu

In this menu you get 2 options, the first of which is word wrap. Using which you can adjust the text written equal to the window size of notepad.

The second option and tool in the Format menu is font tool. You can change the style, type and size of the text of notepad using the Font tool. Style means that you can make text bold, italic.

 

View Menu

You can enlarge the text written in notepad by using the zoom option in the View menu. This does not increase the size of the text, but you can enlarge the text by this. With the Status bar option you can enable and disable the bar under notepad.

 

Help Menu

This option provides you notepad information. But for this, it is necessary to have an internet connection in your computer. You can view the general information about notepad software without using an internet connection using this option.

 

        Difference Between Wordpad and Notepad

Notepad is a simple text editor, where you can only write plain text. At the same time, wordpad is a word processor, which provides more features than notepad.

Just as you could not put an image in notepad, you could not do special text formatting, you can do all this in the wordpad.

Despite providing so many features of Wordpad, notepad is more famous than wordpad. There is definitely a lack of features in Notepad. But due to notepad lightweight application, its file opens quickly and it is quite easy to use.

You can easily create html, .bat extension files using Notepad. You should use Wordpad at the time when you want to create a document.

Within which you need to do special formatting like images, bullet lists and tables. If I just put it simply, the only difference between wordpad and notepad is that in notepad you can only write normal text, whereas in wordpad you can decorate and organize the text well.
